Accessible Content Development shoulders the major share of responsibility towards disabled persons, especially print-disabled.In this workshop one will also learn how to convert an inaccessible content to an accessible one, how to handle images, tables, charts, STEM content etc. and also how to create accessible eBooks in epub or pdf format. OCR tools, content editors like MS Word, e-Pub conversion tools and accessibility testing tools will be introduced. Some special techniques will be discussed to create accessible STEM content.

The human hand, a symbol of power and intellect, is remarkably versatile, capable of various functions from grasping objects to emphasizing ideas. However, rapid industrialization in India has led to increased hand injuries, affecting musculoskeletal and neurological health. Hand function can also be compromised due to age, degenerative conditions, or birth defects, impacting daily living and work capacity.Adaptive devices are essential, but WHO reports only 10% of potential users have access due to high costs, lack of availability, and other barriers. The Manipal Model addresses this by creating low-cost, locally-made adaptive devices, like splints and aids, tailored to individual needs for activities such as eating, writing, and driving. In this workshop Designing these devices by considering various challenges, including movement restrictions, weakness, and sensory issues. Customizing and delivering the device at the crucial time remains a significant challenge.

He lost his sight unexpectedly in mid-career as Professor of Physics and became interested in accessibility of complex information, including math and graphics. He has received numerous awards and has given invited presentations on both physics and information accessibility on five continents.
